So this week brings up an interesting challenge for SmashPad Streamkend with major releases shrinking as the holidays are upon us, which means that I have to think a little harder to figure out what games to stream each weekend. For this week, however, we will be checking out Xenominer, a Minecraft clone on Xbox Live Indie Games that takes that concept a lot further than most of the other clones that dominate that service right now. Just calling it a Minecraft clone is doing it a disservice since setting the randomly-generated world in space on a mysterious planetoid gave the developers the ability to rethink a lot of the mechanics you know and gives the world a fresh set of new rules to live and survive on. I’ll talk a bit more about that during the stream as we see what the game has to offer together.
What games we will be featuring beyond this week will be a bit harder to pinpoint. The next few weeks will probably play host to some of my favorite games of the year as we work on our big end of the year feature to highlight the games that our staff loved most in 2012. That will be an interesting challenge since I’m not sure some of these games are great for streaming, so don’t expect something like The Walking Dead to be featured on a stream.
