Gamer 2.0

SmashPad Q&A: Do we review PC games?

I’ve been an editor for this publication for more than five years now, and the real joy of it (aside from offering my thoughts on the latest and greatest happenings in the gaming industry) is fielding questions.  We at SmashPad get a bunch of questions each day… some good, some stupid, and some just bizarre.  But I feel what really separates us is that we’re actually willing to take the time to answering your questions.

So I’m trying something new.  Every week, I’ll pick a question at random that is asked of our staff, we’ll answer it.  Bluntly and informatively.  Sound good?  That’s because it is. But don’t worry, we won’t put anybody on blast… unless you want us to.

One of the questions fielded was why we don’t cover PC games.  I’ll be straight up.  Ever since the launch of Gamer 2.0, we felt that the need for PC coverage was dwindling.  We had two editors (they’re both gone now, but one is with GameSpot now) who provided great coverage, but we weren’t getting the hits for their content.

Now we’re at SmashPad, and as you can see, we’ve pretty much been downgraded to a blog for the time being.  That being said, we have a bit more leniency.  Sometimes, too much.

Just about a year ago, I decided to write a review on The Sims 3, mainly because it was a big release.

That being said, we’re set to review another big PC release.

Yes, stay tuned.
