NYU Launches Gaming Courses and Degrees
December 10th, 2008 | Written by Amadeo Plaza | Topic: Industry NewsSo, I just got word through our good friend Bukola, aka Ms. Pixel, that NYU would be launching gaming courses and degrees. That is AWESOME news!

“NYU just annouced the launch of the NYU Game Center, which will offer long-term undergraduate and graduate degrees in the research, design and development of digital games. In the fall of 2009, NYU will become the first New York City college to offer a degree in video games.”
Being as a few of us are based out of New York, this is a great achievement for the city. There really isn’t enough industry happenings on the east coast, which is really frustrating because we’re treated like lepers for our geographic location. Everyone based out of California, especially San Francisco, are given grade-A service because so many of the publishers are located there. But you know what? Maybe that will change soon enough.
Until that time, however, I’ll continue to keep an eye on the small gatherings of independent New York based game developers, like tonight’s Massively Multiplayer Holiday Party, hosted by the International Game Developer’s Association’s New York chapter.
Nonetheless, this is a good showing of forward thinking on NYU’s part. I think I’ve decided where I’m going to get a master’s…

Thats real cool, I want something like that in Norway. We do have something like that. But not even close to just working with game codes.
I would make take a course in this, at least give it a shot
