RUMOR: EA Sports Season Pass Floated; Could Provide Big Savings
November 17th, 2008 | Written by Chris Selogy | Topic: Rumors
We’ve received a tip from an unnamed source that a rumored potential deal may be in the works between EA and GameStop to offer consumers a special deal called the EA Sports Season Pass. Originating from a survey regarding the purchases of sports games, a particular image was sent to us about this deal offering consumers the chance to pay $20 upfront and receive the privilege to save 33% off of many of the upcoming EA Sports games when purchased new, which would almost pay off the price of the Season Pass with just one purchase.
This could possibly be a sign that EA’s testing the consumers’ response to cheaper prices for their yearly sports games with a possible change of heart in store for the sports juggernaut. The image we received explains all of the info we have at the moment, though we do find it interesting that amongst all of the yearly sports titles that sequels are expected for games like NFL Head Coach, NFL Tour, and Facebreaker despite some of the questionable reviews and sales numbers that we’ve seen. Like any rumor, any part of it could change if it ever actually sees the light of day.
UPDATE: Apparently the survey originated from the Web survey site, U.Talk.Back.

This is interesting and as a sports game fanatic I am definitely intrigued. Now let’s just hope EA sports improves on some of their games, especially basketball.

If they do this, then I'd be more tempted to buy games like NHL 10 and Skate 2. I hope they decide to go ahead with it.
