MadWorld Box Art Revealed to the Delight of Gamers

There it is in all of its glory. The Wii game featuring violence in a Sin City visual style that would make Miyamoto whimper finally has its box art.
MadWorld has caused a stir on the Wii because of its taste for the ultra-violence, but that controversy has been welcomed as a necessity on a console that lacks the mature titles that more hardcore gamers prefer. The Wii’s infatuation with family-oriented games has angered many, but from a business standpoint, it does serve to their core audience: the mainstream gamer.
The problem with relying on the mainstream as your core audience is that they don’t typically follow what’s going on in gaming beyond the big name titles such as Mario and Wii [Insert Activity Here e.g. "Fit" or "Sports"]. In the business world there is a widely believed rule of thumb called the “80/20 rule”, which states that roughly 80 percent of your business will come from 20 percent of your customers. If true, then the Wii’s focus on the mainstream could backfire in the long haul, as their game purchases will likely be few and far between by comparison to its competitors, the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Sales figures have shown that both of those consoles typically sell more games per unit, or “higher attach rate” in business lingo.
The Wii still is the highest selling of the three consoles, however, and its expected to have yet another great holiday season, so Nintendo must be doing something right.
