Sony Survey: Pay-to-Play in MAG, A-OK?

According to The Bitbag gaming blog, Sony has been sending out surveys via its PlayStation Underground newsletter asking for thoughts on different pricing structures for an unnamed shooter sharing many similarities with the upcoming MAG.
MAG, as you may remember, is the huge “Massive Action Game” from the makers of SOCOM that will let you play a… well, massive multiplayer game with up to 256 players. It tries to handle the chaos by breaking the players up into eight player squads with a squad leader, and the newsletter alludes to such features. Therefore, everyone rightfully believes that Sony is referencing MAG as the unnamed game.
What this means, if true, is that there is at least some discussion within Sony to charge players for the time they spend on MAG. This may not rub off too well with PlayStation users who have thus far basked in the glory of the company’s mantra of not charging players for online play.
Sony has railed against Microsoft for its subscription program, but if the blogger over at Bitbag is to be believed then the company is at least asking its customers how they feel about monthly and yearly subscriptions.
This doesn’t mean that this will actually happen and it could turn out that MAG will be free for everybody. Still, the massive server strain of the huge 256 player matches makes Sony’s willingness to try out a pricing scheme sound plausible. If this goes down as such, it’s hard to tell how PS3 players will react. When you’re used to doing everything you’d like at no cost, it could be a hard sell to ask customers to start dishing a fee.

You might want to update this cause the official word is it's not going to be Pay-To-Play is the official word from Sony

I wasn't expecting the MAG game to be as good as the FPS titles that are currently out. A member of my website posted the link to get the beta key on my website so I recently downloaded the MAG beta and gave it a shot. Or rather I was given the shots to my dome. This game takes a little getting used to, but it can get pretty fun. There's no running around the outskirts of the battlefield to flan your enemy when there are several 32 vs 32 battles going on at the same time. It gets hectic, but stick with your squad and you'll do much better.
