Force Unleashed Movie: Don’t Screw It Up, George!
September 28th, 2008 | Written by Anthony Perez | Topic: RumorsWith 1.5 million units moved in one week, The Force Unleashed is the fastest-selling Star Wars game in LucasArts history. As such, it isn’t a surprise the LA Times “Hero Complex” blog is reporting that a film adaptation could be likely. While most reviews including our own have a hard time forgiving the repetition of the game’s action, almost all are in agreement that it does have an amazing story.
While I’m excited about the prospect, George Lucas will likely screw up any movie based on this game because Lucas is poor filmmaker. The only real film Lucas touched that’s worth any kudos is Episode IV: A New Hope. You may say, “But what about Empire Strikes Back or Raiders of the Lost Ark?”
Nope! Empire Strikes Back had its script penned by two writers named Leight Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan, who also wrote Return of the Jedi and Raiders of the Lost Ark. The directorial duties were also handed off to other directors such as Irvin Kershner, Richard Marquand, and a guy named Steven Spielberg.
All the other Star Wars movies that are generally considered train wrecks – with the exception of the acceptable (but not great) Return of the Sith – were both written and directed by the biggest figurehead in the industry, George Lucas.
I will be nice and let him off the hook for The Clone Wars, because he didn’t write or direct it. In fact, I would just prefer not to acknowledge that…thing’s existence.
So please George, don’t screw it up.

It’s REVENGE of the Sith, not Return.

you have to be kidding. Lucas is laughing all the way to the bank while reading your blog. George is a very skilled director, and even better editor. He wouldn't be tops in Hollywood otherwise. I would love to see you direct the same script he worked from. I get tired of negative people.

You must agree he's a genius either way though regardless. I actually like clone wars….
